With over 40,000 members, the American Legion Auxiliary is the strong, right arm of the American Legion.
The Auxiliary was created at the Minneapolis Convention in 1919.
Open to Wives, Daughters, and Grand Daughters of Legionnaires, the Auxiliary is a major component of the Legion Family.
With Programs in education , children, youth, and Girls State, the Auxiliary is strongly involved in Minnesota communities. Year after year, the Auxiliary provides hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours in our Minnesota communities.

and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educator citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peach and security.

Our mission is to support our veterans with financial support through our programs.

The Apple Valley American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Minnesota was officially chartered on December 9, 1976 by our National Organization.
Membership in the American Legion Auxiliary shall be limited to mothers, spouses, daughters and sisters of members of the American Legion who served on active duty in the Armed Forces, who were
honorably discharged and to those women who of their own right are eligible for membership in the American Legion.
There are two levels of membership:
l. Senior: this is composed of members over the age of eighteen years; or a wife under the age of eighteen years whose husband is a member of the American Legion
2. Junior: this is composed of members under the age of eighteen, whose activities shall be supervised by the senior membership. Upon reaching the age of 18 years, junior members shall automatically be
admitted into senior membership with full privileges.
3. Both shall pay annual dues, senior - $30.00; junior $10.00

The purpose of the Americanism program is to promote patriotism and responsible
citizenship.
Minnesota Girl’s State is a week long program of learning focused on responsible citizenship and leadership. Girl’s State citizens are immersed in learning about the political process
electing officials for all levels of state government and actively running a mock government.
This program is held at Bethel University in Arden Hills.

Connecting the visual image of the poppy with the sacrifice of service made by our veterans has been an important goal of the American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Program since its inception in 1921. On Memorial Day and Veterans Day, millions of red crepe paper poppies are distributed across the country in exchange for donations that go directly to assist disabled and hospitalized veterans in our communities.
Purpose of the Poppy program is to educate the public of the significance of thepoppy and the program’s financial benefit for veterans, military and their families.
The purpose of the Americanism program is to promote patriotism and responsible
citizenship.
This program provides information and assistance to American Legion Auxiliary
members to advocate for the legislative agenda of the American Legion.
This program promotes and supports Wearing Red on Fridays, America’s White
Table, which honors those who do not return, Blood Donation program, Defense POW/MIA programs,
Gold Star Spouses day, Family Readiness Groups and “Be the One”, which is an active national platform to reduce the rate of veteran suicide.
he Armed Forces Service Center (AFSC) is located at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP), since 1970, for traveling Active Duty, National Guard, Reserve, Retirees, Purple Heart and MoH recipients, former POW, Dependents, and DoD. Current ID cards must be presented for entrance.

The AFSC is open seven days a week, from 0800-2245 (8:00 A.M. – 10:45 P.M.) with complimentary refreshments and limited sleeping bunks during these hours. The showers are currently unavailable. For operational updates, please call 612-726-9156.
This program is to promote service which assist and enhance the lives of veterans and their families ensuring restoration and/or transition to morally
functioning lives. We actively support the Hastings Home in Hastings with donations and activities.

The Apple Valley American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 1776 is awarding three (3),
$1000.00 scholarships to deserving daughters, sons or grandchildren of a member
of our Unit, Legion Post, or Sons of the American Legion. These scholarships can
be used for tuition, books or similar fees at vocational/technical school, college or
university.
